Per Diem Travel Sheet Metal Mechanic (contract position located in Newport News, VA) Pay Rate Up to $27.31 per hour + $140 per diem.

Job Description We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Mechanic with extensive experience in both commercial and naval sheet metal work. This role involves working in the installation of foundations, ventilation systems, bulkheads, shipboard furniture, and engaging in sheet metal fabrication shop tasks.

Responsibilities :

• Install and fabricate sheet metal components including foundations, ventilation, bulkheads, and shipboard furniture.
• Interpret and comprehend complex ventilation assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, including weld symbols, material types, and reference lines.
• Layoff piece parts for fabrication and assembly with precision.
• Assemble piece parts in accordance with specifications, maintaining high-quality standards.
• Operate in a physically demanding environment, adhering to OSHA regulations applicable to the shipbuilding industry.
• Utilize small hand tools such as electric drills, grinders, and rivet guns, as well as shop equipment like drill presses and press brakes.

Pay and Benefits :

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $27.31 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
