Registered Nurse - Medical-Surgical Position Summary
Provides direct patient care on the Medical-Surgical unit using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Communicates effectively with the care team and the patient / family to support safe, high-quality outcomes. Reports to the Director or Manager of Department.

Patient Populations Served : Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult. Protected Health Information Accessed : Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. Exposure : Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens may be present. Physical Requirements (typical) : Frequent standing, walking, lifting / moving patients, keyboard entry, and repetitive hand / arm movements; occasional sitting, squatting, and kneeling; rare running or climbing. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards including blood / body fluids, hazardous medications, and latex.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education : Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Licensure / Certifications : Current RN license in state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred; Handle with Care preferred. Skills : Critical thinking and decisive judgment; ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; proficiency navigating multiple clinical software systems; effective English communication (read, write, speak, and understand); ability to complete Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
