Job Title : Phlebotomist IIJob Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations. This position requires proficiency in blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifugation, and updating patient records.
Responsibilities
Conduct blood draws and properly label specimens.
Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
Perform decontamination processes and update patient information.
Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods in a clear and courteous manner.
Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
Understand and follow all physicians' orders.
Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures.
Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Attend annual departmental trainings.
Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results.
Essential Skills
Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
Minimum of 6 months experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
High School Diploma or GED.
2-4 years of experience in a related field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Customer service skills.
Experience with specimen processing.
Data entry skills.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00 / hr.
