CNA Needed : Make a Meaningful Impact Supporting Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities

Are you a compassionate, attentive Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) looking to make a difference? Join our team and help support individuals with intellectual disabilities-including those on the autism spectrum, with Down Syndrome, and dementia-by providing high-quality, person-centered care as a Direct Support Professional (DSP).

What We're Looking For :

We need someone who's upbeat, reliable, and detail-oriented. You notice the little things and care about people's well-being. Experience in home health is a plus, and you must have worked with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

You'll need to be able to lift at least 60 lbs, help with bathing and meal prep, provide medication reminders, and type at least 35 words per minute. Comfort with data entry, strong communication skills (both written and verbal), and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are a must.

We're looking for a self-starter who can also mentor peers, keep up with light housekeeping, follow infection control protocols, and implement service plans. You should know the basics of First Aid, CPR, and Life Support.

Reliable transportation is required, as you may need to accompany clients to appointments (including on Marta L-van). You must be able to pass a DBHDD fingerprint background check.

Shifts available :

Monday to Friday : 4pm-12am

Saturday and Sundays : 12am-12pm or 12pm-12am

Qualifications :

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Current Nurse Aide certification from the Department of Human Resources, or
  • Successful completion of a written competency exam (CHAP, JACHO, or NAHC approved), or
  • Ability to pass the PSA test if not currently certified
  • At least 40 hours of training (20 before starting, 20 more within the first six months)
  • Strong reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Critical thinking abilities
  • Computer literacy and accurate documentation skills
  • Understanding and empathy for elderly, disabled, and convalescing individuals
  • Good physical health
  • Preferred Experience :

  • Two (2) years' experience as a care provider (nurse aide, personal support aide, or personal care assistant)
  • Experience working with adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities
  • Daily Care & Support Includes :

  • Prioritizing client safety and well-being
  • Observing and reporting any health changes
  • Providing supervision, companionship, and social engagement
  • Communicating with family, office staff, and state workers
  • Documenting daily goals, activities, and any necessary notes
  • Helping with medication reminders, prescription pickups, and arranging transportation
  • Assisting with light housekeeping, sanitation, and infection control
  • Preparing meals and helping with personal grooming and dressing
  • Supporting clients with physical activity and simple exercise routines
  • You may also help with :

  • Taking vital signs
  • Helping clients eat, bathe, and manage personal care
  • Assisting with mobility, transfers, and encouraging regular movement

  • Valid Georgia driver's license
  • CNA certification or ability to pass the PSA test
