Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Onsite Substation Safety Officer to join our growing Safety Department. This role is dedicated to overseeing safety operations at our substation and utility-scale projects. The ideal candidate will foster a proactive safety culture, ensure compliance with OSHA and industry standards, and work closely with field operations to safeguard our workforce and the public.

• Serve as the primary safety representative on substation and high-voltage project sites.
• Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to ensure compliance with State Electric’s Safety & Health Program, OSHA CFR 1926 / 1910, and client-specific requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and client representatives to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Pre-Task Plans, and Site-Specific Safety Plans tailored to substation environments.
• Facilitate on-site safety orientations, toolbox talks, and lessons-learned sessions for employees and subcontractors.
• Investigate and document incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; recommend and track corrective measures.
• Provide technical guidance and support to field crews regarding electrical and substation safety protocols, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and compliance documentation.
