Overview

Role : Sous Chef

  • Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing meals ensuring high standards of taste presentation and quality.
  • Oversee kitchen staff to ensure proper food safety and sanitation practices are followed.
  • Assist in menu planning and recipe creation keeping resident preferences and dietary needs in mind.
  • Monitor inventory food costs and waste to maximize efficiency.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food preparation and service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all kitchen areas and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in food preparation and service.
  • Communicate effectively with dining staff residents and management to provide an excellent dining experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Culinary Arts degree or certification or a minimum of five years culinary experience at the Sous Chef level or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a culinary leadership role ideally in a healthcare senior living or hospitality environment is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety sanitation guidelines and dietary restrictions.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage and train kitchen staff effectively.
  • Ability to follow recipes and create delicious meals while managing time efficiently.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies.
  • Must be able to lift / carry a maximum of 50 pounds push / pull a maximum of 50 pounds stand sit bend and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.
  • Current ServSafe or Food Handler certification is required based on State / County law.
  • Residency within the service area is required.
