PROJECT ENGINEER

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review project plans and proposals, and work with management to develop project objectives
- Study product design, customer requirements, and performance standards to determine project specifications and present cost estimates
- Review contractor bids
- Through project coordination meetings and other forms of communication, oversee and coordinate the technical aspects of the project
- Prepare status reports and regularly monitor schedules
- Maintain an accurate record of all elements of the project via an electronic database
- Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA / QC policies, performance standards, and specifications
- Interact daily with clients to interpret their needs and requirements
- Read drawings and prepare take-offs
- Prepare, submit, and track RFIs and submittals
- Generate and track all change orders
- Track and log all drawings
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with the Project Manager and other project participants to ensure project success
- Inform safety managers, superintendents, and / or appropriate supervisors of any safety violations and / or injuries immediately
- Establish annual continuing education goals to improve performance and proficiency in construction project management
- Collect closeout documentation and prepare turnover O&M manuals to Owner
- Other Duties as assigned
- Employee may be required to work extended hours (more than 8 hours per day), weekends, and holidays. Employee will be compensated based on guidelines in the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or other construction-related fields of study preferred1+ years relevant work or internship experience, knowledge of general contracting a plusAbility to interpret drawings and specificationsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsOrganization and time management skillsFamiliarity with Bluebeam, Timberline, PlanGrid, P6, Microsoft Scheduler, Microsoft Outlook, and / or Microsoft Office SuiteKnowledge of preconstruction phase, bidding / estimating, accounting, risk management, safety, budget control, schedule control, submittals, RFIs, and change order processesAdvanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, etc, plus an in-depth understanding of the interdependence and relationship between construction and design teamsMust successfully complete and pass a background check and drug / alcohol testingValid driver's record preferredPerks & Benefits
