Pay Range : $30.00+ / hr. (commensurate with experience); paid weekly (on Thursdays)
Position Summary :
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of manufacturing equipment and facility systems to ensure optimal production performance. This position supports a colored pigment manufacturing and distribution facility where uptime, safety, and quality standards are essential.
Key Responsibilities :
- Be Familiar with the DPP Health and Safety Manual.
- Wear PPE according to the DPP Health and Safety Manual.
- Follow all DPP Safety Procedures.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on production equipment, including mixers, blenders, conveyors, dust collectors, and packaging machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues, ensuring timely repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Assist in equipment installation, modifications, and upgrades for improved efficiency and safety.
- Maintain and repair facility infrastructure such as lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and basic building systems.
- Document maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repairs in maintenance logs.
- Monitor spare parts inventory and communicate supply needs to management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives for equipment reliability and energy efficiency.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with OSHA safety regulations and company safety policies.
- Collaborate with production staff to resolve equipment-related issues and recommend solutions to prevent recurring problems.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns during assigned shifts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills :
Education : High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field preferred.Experience : 2+ years in industrial maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.Technical Skills :
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.Experience with troubleshooting PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)Basic welding and fabrication skills are a plus.Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, CMMS systems).Physical Requirements : Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand / walk for extended periods, and work in hot, cold, or dusty environments while wearing required PPE.
Work Environment :
Ability to stand for extended periods.Work in a manufacturing environment, with occasional exposure to pigments, dust, and chemicals (appropriate PPE provided).Walking, talking, hearing, standing, and vision are required over 95% of the time, while bending, stooping, and twisting are required about 40% of the time. Sitting and feeling are required 5% of the time, and reaching is required about 20% of the time. Pushing and pulling are required over 95% of the time. Low levels of lifting (10 pounds or less) are required about 10% of the time, while medium levels of lifting and carrying (20 to 40 pounds) are required more than 50% of the time.
