Position Description
This is a tenure track position at the Assistant / Associate Professor rank. We are looking for a generalist with a specialization in American Politics. Preference would be given to candidates who can develop a course in Environmental Justice with a special emphasis on Civic Engagement, supervise the department's internship program, and provide online instructions for course delivery. This is a full-time, tenure-track appointment for the nine-month academic year beginning August 2024.
Department of Political Science
The Department of Political Science at Norfolk State University offers a B.A. in Political Science as well as a minor. The department is interested in developing new courses. Currently we offer courses primarily in American Politics, International Relations, Political Theory, Public Administration, Urban Planning, and Pre-Law. The department is particularly interested in candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for all students regardless of their background. Candidates must include a statement that reflects their commitment to diversity initiatives and / or experience working with students from underrepresented groups.
