Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Ambulatory Operating Room RN with SC or compact license and at least one year of OR experience across multiple specialties.

Responsibilities

  • Ambulatory Operating Room setting with pre-op and post-op responsibilities
  • Covers a variety of specialties including Orthopedics (total joints, arthroscopy, hand, shoulder, elbow), Interventional Radiology, GI, Ophthalmology, Ortho, ENT, GYN, GU, Endocrine, Surgical Oncology, Plastics, and Robotics
  • Unit has 2 ORs, 2 GI procedural rooms, and 1 VIR procedural room
  • Pre / post area includes 20 bays for patients and a team of 10 RNs and 1 PCT
  • Scheduled for four 10-hour day shifts per week, 6 : 30am–5 : 00pm
  • Anticipate staying late a few times per month based on case volume
  • Possible floating within perioperative facility as needed
  • No call requirement
  • Uses EPIC EMR
  • Responsible for prepping patients, reviewing medical history, reconciling medications, starting IVs, obtaining vital signs and EKGs, administering IV fluids and meds, and discharging post-anesthesia patients
  • Expected to collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative nursing team
  • Fast-paced work environment caring for a wide variety of surgical and procedural patients
  • All mandatory training modules must be completed pre-start with average of 4 hours spent
  • Requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted prior to contract consideration; approval is based on department needs
  • All employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November)
  • Scrubs or dress code policy will be followed as per department standards
  • Block scheduling accommodations may be requested but are not guaranteed
  • Requirements

  • Active SC or compact RN license is required for consideration
  • Current AHA BLS certification
  • Radiation badge required, to be provided by parent company
  • Minimum one year of Operating Room RN experience required
  • Experience in Ophthalmology, Ortho, ENT, GYN, GU, Endocrine, Surgical Oncology, Plastics, Robotics, and Total Joints
  • No experience in general surgery, L&D, or pediatrics required as these are not performed in this unit
  • Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
  • Must provide driver's license and SSN for compliance
  • Must not have been employed with the specified health system as perm or PRN staff within the past year
  • First-time travelers are not accepted
  • Locals within 60 miles considered at local rate
