Must-Have : Experience caring for post-op surgical patients, especially in Orthopedics and Gastrointestinal surgeries

Description :

This position is for a medical-surgical unit caring for orthopedic, spine, general surgery, and bariatric patients.

The unit has a fast-paced environment and typically sees 10-20 post-operative admissions each day.

Nursing responsibilities include both medical and surgical skill sets.

Nurses should have experience in accessing and managing ports, blood product administration, central line care, and telemetry monitoring.

Candidates must float to other units as necessary.

The patient population includes adults and geriatrics.

Experience with wound vacs and strong orthopedic skills are required.

Attention to detail is critical due to the high turnover rate of admissions and discharges per shift.

Daily patient ratios are approximately five patients per nurse.

Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, and social services.

The unit handles a diverse range of patient diagnoses including orthopedic and general surgical post-operative care.
