The College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts (PVFA) at Texas A&M University, Section of Dance, Music, Performance and Theatre, invites applications for one (1) full-time Academic Professional Track, Instructional Assistant / Associate Professor in Vocal Performance (depending on qualifications). This is a nine-month academic, non-tenure accruing appointment beginning Fall 2025. All voice types are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to mezzo-soprano, tenor, baritone, or bass.
We seek an individual with expertise in at least one of the following areas :
Besides teaching individual voice lessons and voice-related courses at the undergraduate level, the position also entails the development of courses and performance-based projects in at least one of the areas listed above. The PVFA’s unique music degree started in the Fall of 2024, for that reason, and unlike similar positions in most Schools of Music, the successful candidate will have ample opportunity to contribute at an early stage to the music program – and to the music scene at Texas A&M University more broadly. Candidates will also be expected to contribute to academic service.
A Master level degree in one of the fields indicated above or a related field, or a terminal degree (preferred) such as DMA, PhD, or MFA is required. Successful candidates at the Instructional Assistant level must have a minimum of three years of significant teaching experience at the college / school level in the field or in a related field and a background in collaborative performing arts projects. Consideration for the rank of Associate will be given to individuals with significant (minimum of six years) teaching experience at the college / school level in the field or in a related field, who have attained the rank of Associate at a prior institution or have equivalent professional experience.
