American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med / Surg RN for a night shift position requiring an active ID or compact RN license and current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Medical Surgical unit of an acute care hospital on floor 2Unit has 13 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 4 without CNA and 1 : 3 otherwisePatient population includes post orthopedic surgeries, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, mastectomies, atrial fibrillation, myocardial infarction, and some pediatric respiratory casesRequired to titrate medications including insulin, Cardizem, and heparin dripsUtilizes equipment such as nasal cannula, high flow oxygen, CPAP, and BiPAPEpic EMR system is used for all charting12-hour night shifts, three shifts per week with self-scheduling and some flexibility to meet unit needsEvery other to every third weekend required and occasional holiday shiftsFloating may occur to the ER for tasking, but primarily based on the Med / Surg unitOn-call required for two shifts per contractOne CNA per shift assists with vital signs, ADLs, and set-ups for sterile procedures, but does not handle labs or IVsTelemonitoring equipment in use and basic telemetry skills are expectedResponsibilities include providing nursing care for Med / Surg patients, titrating drips, monitoring basic telemetry, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary teamUnit charge nurse serves as the house supervisor and covers Med / Surg and L&DFirst time travelers are welcome to applyOrientation includes 1-2 shifts specific to the unitAny color professional scrubs may be wornNo blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests will be accommodated\n \n Requirements\n
Active ID or compact state RN license required at time of considerationCurrent BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications requiredMinimum of 1 year recent Med / Surg RN experienceEpic EMR experience preferredAbility to titrate common drips such as insulin, Cardizem, and heparinDrivers license required for considerationTwo professional references required : one supervisor from the past 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibilityCandidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facilityPermanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before applying\n Benefits\n
