Purchasing Manager | Up to $120k | Putnam, CT | Direct Hire

Job Description :

The Purchasing Manager will oversee supply chain operations with a focus on vendor management, purchasing, and production planning. This role is critical in ensuring materials and components are sourced cost-effectively, delivered on time, and aligned with manufacturing schedules. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in purchasing for a manufacturing environment, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to guide a small team while remaining hands-on.

Key Responsibilities :

Lead day-to-day purchasing operations, vendor negotiations, and supplier relationship management.

Oversee materials planning and scheduling to align with production forecasts.

Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to meet technical purchasing requirements.

Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement.

Coach and guide a small purchasing / planning team while maintaining hands-on involvement.

Ensure compliance with company standards, budgets, and operational goals.

Qualifications :

Proven experience in supply chain and vendor management within a manufacturing environment.

Strong planning and scheduling skills, with the ability to forecast demand and align with production needs.

Background in manufacturing purchasing processes and requirements.

Experience leading a small team, with a collaborative and hands-on leadership style.

Comfortable working cross-functionally with engineers on technical requirements (materials, tooling, components).

Excellent negotiation, organizational, and communication skills.
