A Marine Interdiction Agent (MIA) is a critical position within the Air and Marine Operations component, safeguarding America's national borders while facilitating lawful international travel and trade.
The MIA plays a vital role in detecting, preventing, and apprehending threats to national security.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Perform marine-based law enforcement operations to detect and prevent contraband and illegal activities.
- Monitor behavior patterns and activities of suspect persons, vehicles, or vessels believed to be engaged in illegal activities.
- Interpret radar data to calculate intercepts and track vessels and people to successful interdictions.
- Search persons, vessels, baggage, and cargo for contraband or weapons incidental to detention or arrest.
Requirements :
Candidates must possess a qualifying Merchant Mariner Credential and meet one of the following requirements :
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as commanding law enforcement scenes, conducting investigative inquiries, utilizing cameras and electronic surveillance equipment, writing comprehensive reports, and assisting government attorneys in court cases.A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M.A combination of successfully completed post-bachelors education and experience.Benefits :
