This role is essential in supporting patients throughout their cancer journey by developing nutrition plans that address treatment side effects, promote healing, and improve overall quality of life. Job Details

Key Responsibilities :

Provide individualized nutrition assessment and counseling for oncology patients across all stages of treatment and survivorship.

Develop and implement nutrition care plans tailored to patient needs, including weight management, symptom management (e.g., nausea, loss of appetite, dysphagia), and treatment side effects.

Collaborate closely with oncologists, nurses, speech therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team to support coordinated patient care.

Educate patients, families, and caregivers on evidence-based nutrition strategies that optimize treatment outcomes and overall well-being.

Monitor patient progress, adjust care plans as needed, and document in the electronic medical record.

Conduct nutrition-related group sessions, classes, or workshops as needed.

Stay current with oncology nutrition research, guidelines, and best practices (e.g., ASPEN, AND, or oncology-specific standards).

Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and program development within the oncology nutrition service line.

Qualifications :

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field.

Completion of an accredited dietetic internship.

Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential required.

Licensed Dietitian (LD or LDN) as required by state regulations.

Minimum 2 years of clinical nutrition experience; oncology experience strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge of oncology treatments, side effects, and nutrition interventions.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient education skills.

Preferred Skills / Certifications :

Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO) credential strongly preferred (or willingness to obtain within a defined timeframe).

Experience in both inpatient and outpatient oncology nutrition care.

Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
