About The Team
The US Large Enterprise Go‑To‑Market (GTM) Legal Team supports Workday’s diversified industries business on contracts, legal strategy, compliance and risk management. We partner with cross‑functional teams to drive growth, improve customer experience and scale toward our $10 billion revenue goal.
About The Role
The Assistant General Counsel, U.S. Large Enterprise, will lead the optimization of our GTM Legal strategy, develop legal terms that support customer‑focus and revenue growth, and drive cross‑functional initiatives aligned with the GTM strategy for large enterprise. The role requires outstanding judgment, business insight, and the ability to serve as an innovative change agent.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with leaders across the sales organization to support strategic growth initiatives.
- Innovate and operationalize the legal approach and strategy for large enterprise and new types of strategic relationships.
- Lead diversified industries transactions—including negotiation with partners and customers, and support professional services and customer success agreements, assignments, amendments, and add‑on transactions.
- Provide proactive strategic advice and guidance to internal teams regarding business and legal issues and risks.
- Assist in implementing legal efficiencies to support the large enterprise professional services and customer success business unit.
- Help build and improve contract templates and negotiation playbooks and provide internal training on creating a streamlined contract experience.
- Partner effectively with deal operations, sales, finance, revenue recognition, product legal, privacy, security, and contracts operations, and manage external legal counsel as required.
Required Qualifications
J.D. Degree and membership in at least one U.S. State bar.15+ years of proven experience as a practicing attorney in a law firm or in‑house / public sector legal department.10+ years of experience supporting and negotiating in or with the diversified industries sector, including enterprise software / SaaS transactions.Additional Qualifications
Outstanding contract negotiation and drafting skills.Ability to partner with leadership in fast‑paced, customer‑facing transactions.Strong influence, advising, and advocacy for the business’s interests.Exceptional written and oral communication skills across all levels.Excellent judgment and an understanding of sophisticated business needs to advise clients creatively.Experience nurturing internal and external relationships and leading cross‑functional projects.Capability to handle a high volume of transactions simultaneously.Critical thinking and problem‑solving, weighing legal risks and business objectives.Proactive project leadership using organizational skills and lean principles.Willingness to drive creative, efficient solutions, and challenge the status quo.Pay Transparency Statement
Primary Location – USA, TX (Home Office) : $196,000 – $294,000. Additional US Locations : $186,200 – $330,700. Base salary ranges vary by geography, experience and business needs.
