Lead the daily operation of a remote scientific field camp (about 10–12 people) on the Greenland ice sheet. Approximate field season : May–July 2026, with pre / post work and training in the U.S. and Greenland.
What You'll Do
- Plan daily priorities with the Principal Investigator and partners; oversee camp setup and closeout.
- Serve as safety lead; complete check-ins and report incidents / near misses.
- Coordinate aircraft support : cargo / load priorities, crew communications, resupply, and hazmat documentation.
- Supervise camp maintenance (structures, sanitation, fuel / water systems, waste).
- Menu plan, ship / store food, prepare two hot meals per day, set out lunch supplies, and ensure food safety.
- Act as designated firearm handler (employer-provided training); maintain safe storage and response protocols.
- Uphold permits and fieldwork conduct requirements.
What You Bring
5+ years relevant experience OR a bachelor's plus equivalent remote field experience.2+ years of people-management / supervisory experience.Authorized to work in the U.S.; valid driver's license and passport. Wilderness First Responder preferred.Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills in austere environments.Conditions & Expectations
Small, communal living; maintain professional relationships on and off duty. Roommates likely.Limited amenities and communications at times (showers / laundry / phone / internet).Work in extreme cold and heat; frequent snow shoveling; lift 50+ lbs with assistance; wear PPE.Pass NSF medical / dental screening for deployment.Typical schedule ~9 hrs / day, 6 days / week; may extend to 12+ hrs as needed.Travel may include commercial, military, and charter aircraft; PFS covers field travel expenses.Nice to Have
