The cashier provides fast and friendly service to customers, assists them with questions and request. Operates a cash register and the duties which correspond. Package product, work with drive-up and / or carry-out. Replenishes product as needed.

Reporting relations include : accountable and reports to district store director, store manager, assistant managers of GM, perishables, and store operations; service managers. Positions that report to you : none.

Primary duties and responsibilities include : providing prompt, efficient and friendly customer service, smiling and greeting customers, making an effort to learn customers' names, assisting customers, answering the telephone, working with co-workers as a team, operating cash register, redeeming promotional coupons, stocking, facing, and rotating merchandise, communicating clearly, keeping register area clean, comparing totals on cash register, understanding and practicing proper sanitation procedures, maintaining strict adherence to department and company guidelines, adhering to company policies, and reporting to work when scheduled.

Secondary duties and responsibilities include : assisting store management, knowing code dates on perishable items, changing register tape and ribbons, assisting in other areas of store, and performing other job related duties and special projects.

Knowledge, skills, abilities and worker characteristics include : ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions, ability to do arithmetic calculations, ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, and ability to write identifying information.

No education or experience requirements.

Physical requirements include : ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently, ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly, vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, field of vision, and ability to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working conditions include : exposure to temperature extremes, possible dampness, equipment movement hazards, electrical shock, exposure to chemicals and solvents, and a fast paced work environment.

Equipment used to perform job includes : pallet jack, box cutter, cash registers, trash compactor, fork lift, calculator, telephone, intercom, cardboard compactor, copier, and fax.
