Role Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Expression Scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, optimization, and characterization of mammalian cell lines for the production of recombinant proteins, including monoclonal antibodies.
Key Responsibilities
Mammalian Cell Line Development
- Design and execute strategies for the development of stable and high-producing mammalian cell lines (e.g., CHO, HEK293) for recombinant protein and monoclonal antibody production.
- Perform transient transfections, clone screening, and selection using appropriate methods.
- Develop and optimize vector constructs, promoters, and selection markers to enhance expression levels and stability.
Cell Culture and Process optimization
- Maintain and culture mammalian cells in both adherent and suspension formats.
- Develop and optimize cell culture media, feeding strategies, and bioreactor conditions to maximize cell growth, viability, and protein yield.
- Perform scale-up of cell culture processes from shake flasks to bioreactors, ensuring process scalability and reproducibility.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze experimental data using statistical software and present findings in clear, concise reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including upstream and downstream process development, quality control, and regulatory teams, to ensure seamless technology transfer and project success.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all experimental work in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Project Management
- Plan, organize, and prioritize multiple projects to meet timelines and project goals.
- Engage with clients to understand their specific needs and provide technical support and guidance throughout the development process.
- Stay current with scientific literature and advancements in cell line development, bioprocessing, and protein production technologies.
Qualifications
- M.Sc. or B.S. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field with 2-5 years of relevant industry experience (CDMO or biopharmaceutical company preferred).
- Strong hands-on experience with mammalian cell line development, including stable cell line generation, vector design, and gene expression analysis.
- Proficiency in mammalian cell culture techniques, including transfection, clone selection, and bioreactor operation.
- Experience in process development, optimization, and troubleshooting for recombinant protein production, including monoclonal antibodies.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex experimental data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time.
Preferred Skills
- Advanced knowledge of molecular biology techniques (e.g., cloning, PCR, qPCR, Western blot) and protein characterization methods (e.g., ELISA, HPLC).
- Experience with high-throughput screening and automation platforms.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for biologics development (e.g., FDA, EMA guidelines).
- Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and software for gene expression analysis.
- Experience in managing client relationships and providing technical support.
