American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry PCU night shift role in a Level 1 trauma acute care setting, requiring an active AZ or compact license and strong EKG monitoring skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 30-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a focus on CHF patients and general telemetry casesPatient ratios are 1 : 3-4, with patient care tech support at 1 PCT per 15 patientsCommon diagnoses include CHF, fluid overload, shortness of breath, arrhythmias, and ETOH-related issuesRNs are required to perform EKG monitoring and interpret their own stripsCardiac, heparin, Lasix, and bumex drip titration requiredUses Cerner EMR; experience preferredNasal cannula and CPAP / BiPAP (for OSA only) are used in the unitSelf-scheduling is available for 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a)Every other weekend and holiday coverage (2 major, 2 minor based on contract) requiredFloating required to any tele floor and could float to affiliated facilities as neededNo routine on-call requiredRNs must pass a Sim Lab test on the first day of orientation (failure on either required test results in ineligibility for 6 months)Orientation includes 12 hours plus 2 days on the unitCentralized telemetry monitoring system is usedDress code is navy scrubsPosition is first to float among staff and travelersSupport from a charge nurse (no patient assignment) and managers providedHoliday shifts are assigned based on contract periodPermanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility for AZ candidates to qualify for travel assignment\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum of 2 years current telemetry or stepdown experience requiredCurrent AHA BLS and ACLS certifications requiredDemonstrated skills in EKG monitoring and cardiac drip titration requiredPassage of a dysrhythmia exam within 24-48 hours prior to offer (maximum 2 attempts)Valid driver's license required2 professional references : one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 yearsCandidates must not have been employed in any capacity at CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year\n Benefits\n
