Company Overview :

Our client, a leader in the telecommunications field, is seeking a Senior GIS Designer to join their team. The focus of this role is to design detailed conduit layouts within a fiber network while providing leadership and expertise in fiber architecture.

General Duties / Key Responsibilities :

Utilize QGIS, ArcGIS, and other GIS tools to create FTTX designs.

Learn new tools and methods to assist with design and collaborate across multiple markets with various customers.

Analyze network demand point data to create the most effective design.

Review permitting prints during the permitting stage and provide feedback related to design to minimize costly or difficult changes.

Provide exemplary project communication and adhere to project / jurisdictional requirements.

Maintain a robust quality control / assurance process, including validation checks and QA / QC of fiber designs.

Design Fiber to the Home, backhaul / transport fiber routes, MDU, and distribution / feeder design using provided design software and methods.

Understand easements, right-of-ways, aerial plant, and buried plant to aid in the design process.

Ability to read and understand maps, plats, as-builts, construction drawings, and utility records is highly desirable.

Perform any / all duties related to conduit designs within a fiber network that may be required for the project(s).

Conduct Quality Assurance on the work of other Designers.

Display an in-depth understanding of Fiber Architecture.

Take ownership of special projects with limited supervision.

Support Lead Designers in the training of new hires or lower-level Designers.

Required Job Qualifications :

2-4 years of related experience.

1-2 years of telecom experience.

Preferred : Trained and knowledgeable in fiber optic network design.
