What you will do
- Serve as the plant expert on preventing defects—advising teams on methods and provisions to reduce quality risks.
- Create, release, and maintain required quality documentation (procedures, work instructions, control plans).
- Plan and conduct routine process audits; follow through to closure on findings.
- Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions; fully own and drive the quality system.
- Partner with Engineering and Production to resolve internal nonconformances and implement corrective actions.
- Sequence and prioritize improvement initiatives for maximum impact.
- Champion quality training, tools, and policies across the operation.
- Administer documentation and reporting for the quality management system.
- Set and track measurable quality performance targets.
- Gather voice-of-customer insights through surveys and feedback loops.
- Apply statistical methods and data analysis to monitor and improve processes.
- Calibrate gauges, perform product testing, and retain accurate records.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving, leadership, conflict management, and team-building skills.
- Compile and communicate product conformance reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Success in this role requires a broad command of manufacturing quality in high-volume metal fabrication (forming, cutting, welding) and an ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-moving environment.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or a related field.5–7 years of experience in manufacturing quality; automotive or transportation industry exposure is a plus.Hands-on experience with process auditing, corrective action, statistical analysis, gage calibration, and test methods.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
