Tehama County Department of Child Support Services is one of 47 local child support agencies in California. The department manages approximately 2,700 child support cases. Providing customers excellent service is a top priority. Staff are trained professionals ready to assist customers in opening a case, establishing a child support order, determining paternity, modifying their order, and enforcing their order. About the Position :
Under limited supervision, the Child Support Specialist IV performs a wide variety of child support duties involving the most difficult and sensitive cases; acts in a lead capacity by training, reviewing, assigning, and directing the work of subordinate staff; acts in the supervisor's absence, assists with low-level administrative functions, and performs related work as required.

The department is recruiting to fill one (1) vacancy. Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for a Child Support Specialist IV, as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list.
Examination Information :
Training & Experience (T&E) Examination - Weighted 100%
The Training & Experience Examination is designed to elicit a range of specific information regarding each candidate's knowledge, skill, abilities, and potential to effectively perform the duties relative to the classification. Responses to the questionnaire will be assessed based on the pre-determined rating criteria. All applicants must complete the entire examination to receive a score. To obtain a position on the eligible list, candidates must receive a minimum rating of 70% on the examination.
Tentative T&E Examination Dates :
Exams will be emailed to candidates meeting minimum qualifications the week of October 27, 2025.
Interviews are tentatively scheduled for the week of November 3, 2025.
New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
