Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

The work you will do on the U.S. Army health care team, as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is a vital service that will make a difference in the overall mental health of the U.S. Army.

In this job, you will perform behavioral health nursing care for active duty, family members, retirees, and other eligible beneficiaries. Psychiatric / Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioners elicit comprehensive health histories, perform complete physical examinations, order and / or perform psychotherapy, command consultations, medication management, conduct data analysis, formulate problem lists, develop and implement plans of care, collaborate with other health professionals, and refer patients professionals, refer patients as appropriate. You may work in the following clinical areas : inpatient psychiatric units, alcohol / drug rehabilitation programs, day treatment programs, mental health clinics and combat stress units.

Requirements

• Current, valid, and unrestricted license as Registered Nurse.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Other advanced life support certifications are encouraged
• Masters degree as a psychiatric nurse practitioner from an a program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
• Board Certification as Psychiatric / Behavior Health Nurse Practitioner
