HumanEdge Health is hiring an experienced Travel LMSW to join a 172-bed children's specialty hospital in New Hyde Park, NY. This role is based in the Inpatient NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and requires a compassionate, clinically strong social worker who thrives in emotionally complex and family-centered environments.

Position Overview

As a NICU Social Worker, you will provide emotional support, counseling, and discharge planning services to families of critically ill newborns. This role requires strong clinical judgment, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to support families in crisis.

Responsibilities

Provide bereavement support and counseling for families

Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop care plans

Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams for patient / family support

Manage complex social situations and family dynamics

Facilitate safe discharge planning to home and community services

Offer crisis intervention and emotional support

Advocate for patients and families throughout hospitalization

Required

Active NYS Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)

Previous inpatient pediatric or acute care social work experience

Strong crisis counseling and family engagement skills

Excellent communication and documentation abilities

Experience with high-risk and vulnerable patient populations

Preferred

NICU or pediatric clinical experience

Experience with discharge planning and family systems counseling
