Category Buyer
The Category Buyer will support the Global Category Manager for Resins and Plastics in managing sourcing activities, supplier relationships, and cost optimization initiatives. This role is responsible for data analysis, market intelligence, and reporting that enable fact-based decision-making and strategic category management across global operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Strategic Sourcing & RFQs
Generate, distribute, and negotiate RFQs in alignment with Global Sourcing Procedures.
Support the quote processes for customer RFQs and consolidate analysis for management review.
Supplier Management
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Negotiate pricing and long-term contracts while ensuring compliance with company policies and cost-saving initiatives.
Maintain supplier databases, contracts, and performance scorecards.
Support sustainability and compliance initiatives within the supply base.
Category Strategy Development
Assist in developing and executing sourcing strategies for resins and plastics.
Analyze spend data and forecast demand.
Create homogenous categories and work across groups to develop a global strategy.
Project Support
Act as the purchasing interface for platform projects.
Participate in project meetings and contribute to sourcing decisions.

Strong analytical and quantitative skills; advanced Microsoft Office required, Power BI / Tableau preferred
Knowledge of procurement processes and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, QAD, etc.)
Strong communication and presentation skills with ability to support global stakeholders
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Education / Special Knowledge - Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field. CPP is a plus.
Experience- 3+ years of experience in purchasing or supply chain (internships or co-ops considered).
Physical Demands / Work Environment - Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer, may require local, domestic and international travel. This position will be located out of Troy MI, or remote with a travel requirement.
