\n Duties : Job Description : \n-The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution.\n\nEssential Functions : \n-Performs all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the scope of service.\n-Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.\n-Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team.\n-Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and that is based on patient and family needs.\n-Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.\n-Modifies plan of care based upon continuous evaluation.\n-Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and / or correcting safety hazards and incidents.\n-Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues.\n-Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers, and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base.\n-Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solution.\n-Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies.\n\nDepartment Specific Job Functions : \n-Provides post-operative care for the complex surgical population.\n-Assesses and intervenes appropriately to ensure positive outcomes during the post-operative phase.\n-Monitors and cares for newly tracheostomies.\n-Assesses and maintains wounds that require a wound vac and other complex wound management.\n-Assesses, manages and educates patient and families on new ostomies.\n-Works collaboratively with the general surgical residency and OMFS residency services.\nSkills : Required Skills & Experience : \n-Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience.\n\nPreferred Skills & Experience : \n- N / A\nKeywords : \nEducation : Required Education : \n-ASN\n\nPreferred Education : \n-BSN\n\nRequired Certifications & Licensure : \n-Illinois state RN License in good standing -BLS (American Heart Assoc.)\n\nPreferred Certifications & Licensure : \n-N / A\nSkills and Experience : \nRequired Skills : \nBLS (CPR)\nWOUND MANAGEMENT\nPATIENT CARE\nRN LICENSE\nAdditional Skills : \nDOCUMENTATION\nHUMAN RESOURCES\n
