Join to apply for the US Research Analyst (Temporary) role at ISS | Institutional Shareholder Services .

Location : Rockville, MD or Washington, DC.

Start : February 2026, ending May / June 2026 (some fluctuation possible).

ISS is hiring an analyst for the spring annual shareholder meeting season, a temporary position focused on governance research for institutional investors.

Responsibilities

  • Perform research and complete proxy analyses for shareholder meetings of publicly traded companies.
  • Read and understand SEC filings (10‑Ks, 10‑Qs, 8‑Ks, DEF 14As) and other company disclosures to distill financial, industry, and corporate governance information and draft analyses.
  • Issue proxy vote recommendations based on ISS policy guidelines ( issgovernance.com / policy ).
  • Develop a deep understanding of governance issues, especially mergers, acquisitions, and equity or debt financings.
  • Answer internal and external queries on research analyses and discuss policies and vote recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher; relevant work experience preferred in finance, accounting, economics, governance, or law.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, self‑driven work ethic, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a high‑pressure, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Team‑oriented mindset and effective communication with various internal parties.
  • Familiarity with SEC filings is a plus but not required.
  • Additional Information

  • Work schedule : fully onsite, five days in‑office each week.
  • Peak season : overtime may be requested during late March to mid‑April, including evenings or weekends.
  • Payroll and benefits : payroll provided through a third party; benefits may be available through the third‑party provider after an eligibility period.
  • Location Options

  • Rockville, MD – King Farm community, 1 mile from Shady Grove Red Line, dining, green spaces, free parking, onsite gym.
  • Washington, DC – open‑floor workspace on Rhode Island Avenue, onsite gym, convenient metro access.
  • Compensation : $26.00 – $27.50 per hour (exact pay varies based on skills, experience, and education).

    Employment Type : Full‑time, 40 hours per week, overtime eligibility (subject to manager approval).
