Vigor Marine CM San Diego performs maintenance and modernization on all classes of major surface vessels, including CVN, CG, and DDG, as well as amphibious ships such as LHD, LHA, LSD, LPD, and auxiliary ships. Our work spans a full range of Combatant, Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, and Habitability systems, supporting the readiness and mission success of the U.S. Fleet.

Position Specifics

Vigor Marine CM San Diego is currently searching for a Production Analyst / Process Improvement Specialist.

The Production Analyst / Process Improvement Specialist plays a critical role in analyzing production performance, cost efficiency, and workflow optimization to improve operational outcomes and project delivery. This position supports the operation through the development of data-driven insights, process automation, and standardized reporting.

Responsibilities include gathering, analyzing, and interpreting production data; identifying process bottlenecks; and implementing improvements that enhance schedule performance, cost control, and operational efficiency. The Production Analyst / Process Improvement Specialist works cross-functionally with Planning, Program Management, Trade and Production Management to ensure / develop efficiency and consistency in data management and reporting across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analyze production performance, cost, and workflow data to identify process improvement opportunities
  • Develop and maintain standardized dashboards, reports, and performance metrics to support operational decision-making
  • Support Earned Value Management (EVM), cost forecasting, and schedule adherence reporting
  • Collaborate with Trades, Program Managers and Production leadership to evaluate trends, risks, and optimization opportunities
  • Integrate data from Scheduling Software to provide visibility into for cost and performance metrics
  • Develop and maintain Trade procedures for material flow, efficiency and equipment readiness
  • Streamline manual processes through automation tools (Excel macros, Power BI, and related data visualization platforms)
  • Participate in developing and refining workflow documentation, work instructions, and process maps
  • Provide analytical support during estimate preparation, production planning, and performance reviews
  • Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across departments

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong proficiency with Excel (PivotTables, VBA, formulas) and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Experience with SAP, Microsoft Project, or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Ability to interpret and analyze cost, schedule, and production performance data
  • Strong understanding of process improvement methodologies and continuous improvement principles
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DBIDS credential
  • Physical Requirements

  • May be exposed to fumes, irritants, laser light, toxic chemicals, and potential electrical shock in an industrial or shipboard environment
  • May involve gathering data while observing rotating or operating machinery
  • Constantly works in an industrial or shipboard environment and frequently moves throughout the yard
  • Must be able to maneuver, ascend, and descend stairs / ladders / ramps aboard various ships
  • Ability to move up to 40 pounds
  • May be exposed to rapid changes in microclimates, industrial processes, and other environmental factors while collecting data, providing direction, and observing performance of task teams
