Highway Surveyor V Senior Project Surveyor

JOB SUMMARY :

This role will be responsible for collaborating with other surveyors, engineers or designers on projects for state, regional, local, and private clients performing a variety of tasks in the preparation of plans and / or tasks on multiple projects, as well as leading / overseeing and checking the survey work of others.  The position will function as a work group leader in the development of engineering plans related to all facets of the surveying.  It is expected the position may plan, organize, lead, and implement various work in support of other project managers in the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Operational / Technical

• Act as Work Group Leader on various size projects.
• Supervise and guide the organization on projects related to surveying functions performed within the organization.
• Review preliminary and final design drawings, review or check surveying computations, specifications, and report writing, etc.
• Promote excellent internal and external client service throughout the organization.
• Perform checking of survey related drawings.
• Prepare contract documents, plans, and sketches utilizing client approved design software.
• Perform / check horizontal and vertical geometry calculations as needed.
• Perform and check quantity calculations.
• Assist in supervising the efforts within the organization, including developing the technical skills and project knowledge of co-workers.
• Assist in monitoring the performance of projects, including quality, schedule, and budget.
• Participate in project site and project status meetings.
• Develop project survey related workplans.
• Assist in development of scope of work, budget / man-hours, and schedule recovery plans.
• Keep up to date with new technology, survey equipment and advancements.
• Provide support to other offices as needed.
