The Inpatient Coding Manager, under the general supervision of the Inpatient Director of Coding, is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of AdventHealth's inpatient coding department. This includes managing the inpatient coding teams, ensuring accurate and timely coding of medical records, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting revenue cycle integrity. This role provides leadership and direction to a team of inpatient coders, supports professional development, and collaborates with key stakeholders across the organization to maintain optimal revenue cycle performance and data integrity. The Inpatient Coding Manager plays a critical role in managing discharged not final coded (DNFC) volumes, meeting productivity and quality benchmarks, and supporting audit readiness and regulatory compliance. This position works closely with Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI), Revenue Integrity, HIM, and other departments to promote accurate clinical documentation, appropriate reimbursement, and adherence to coding standards and guidelines. A commitment to service excellence, strong interpersonal communication, and a focus on continuous improvement are essential for success in this role. The Inpatient Coding Manager upholds the highest standards of customer service, fosters respectful professional relationships and adheres to AdventHealth's Corporate Compliance Plan, as well as all relevant local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting body standards.
Supports and contributes to departmental performance improvement initiatives and employee engagement. Uses critical thinking and sound judgment to balance reimbursement optimization with regulatory compliance. Commits to continuous professional growth and education to remain current in coding best practices. Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
