CONSTRUCTION SERVICES PRACTICE
Michael Baker International’s Construction Services staff supports clients by acting as their trusted on-site agent through all phases of construction, from pre-design to close-out, by providing qualified construction managers, inspectors, constructability reviewers, schedulers, estimatorsand safety experts. As new technologies evolve throughout the construction industry, innovative ideas are required to maintain and deliver successful construction projects.
DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker is actively seeking aQuality Assurance Construction Inspectorto join our Construction Services Team providing construction quality assurance oversight for the DOD and other federal projects. TheConstruction Inspectorwill be the lead Inspector responsible for full-time on-site surveillance throughout construction whose mission is to provide quality assurance to ensure that the construction performed on the project is per the requirements in the contract. Responsibilities also include :
- Review pre-final contract drawings and specifications (including technical RFPs) with respect to constructability and compatibility with actual field conditions.
- Participate in pre-award contract meetings, such as Functional Analysis Concept Development (FACDs) meetings and constructability reviews.
- Coordinating post-award contract meetings, such as post-award kickoff meetings (as applicable), preconstruction conferences, partnering meetings, schedule acceptance meetings, design review meetings (as applicable and final inspections).
- Review of contractor administrative submittals, such as schedules, environmental plan; design (as applicable) and construction quality control plan; health and safety plan; and accident prevention plan and shop drawings.
- Monitor progress daily and solicit input from the Engineering Technician / Quality Assurance (ET / QA) representatives, review CQC reports and attend QC meetings.
- Provide daily project status updates to government staff including record inventory documents and Acceptance of Military Real Property and Disposal of DoN Real Property, in accordance with NAVFAC Business Management System (BMS).
- Provide Owner Oversight via walk-downs, QA inspections, generation of open & punch list items, and closeout activities like as-built reviews, O&M reviews, and warranty reviews.
- This position will be onsite in West Point, NY
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
A degree in Engineering or Construction Management, preferred5+ years of onsite QA / QC in vertical building constructionFEMA, US Army, NAVFAC, DOD, DOE, and National Guard installations preferred but not required.Organized, determined, and resourceful; demonstrate a sense of urgency while accurately and safely performing the work, and be able to build relationships with a wide variety of people.Must have excellent customer service skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.Must be able to pass a federal background check for entry onto federal installations.Valid driver’s license
