JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Manager leads the quality department in the development of quality documentation for PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) control plans, failure mode and effects analysis, and first article inspection. This role is responsible for the documentation, implementation, and enforcement of the quality management system, procedures, and statistical techniques according to company certifications to meet or exceed industry standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates daily with Sales, Production, and Engineering personnel.
- Participates in APQP to ensure key quality and functional requirements are properly defined and incorporated.
- Participates in the development of FMEAs and control plans for the introduction of products.
- Ensures that specific customer and internal requirements are reflected on these documents.
- Implements methods to inspect, test, and evaluate the product in production and prior to shipment.
- Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
- Reviews and submits First Article submissions (FA) and PPAPs.
- Analyzes production limitations and standards relating to quality issues (e.g., capability studies).
- Trains the production team in production practices and quality assessment of goods.
- Makes and implements recommendations to reduce defects and improve efficiency.
- Coaches and develops a quality team with set KPIs to meet company goals.
- Sets and enforces department budget.
- Attends MRB meetings.
- Recommends revision of quality specifications when indicated (e.g., ISO / QS).
- Provides quality support to customers and suppliers.
- Resolves customer complaints (Corrective Actions) relating to the quality of the company’s manufactured products.
- Performs additional responsibilities or special projects as assigned by management.
Requirements
Excellent attention to detail & well organized.Multitasking skills & ability to manage multiple projects.Keyance / CMM programming experience.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers and personnel.Excellent computer skills to effectively generate reports, input required data or present information.Experience with MRP software.Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.High proficiency in blueprint reading including GD&T and inspection techniques.Must possess knowledge of material types and finishes.Familiarity with various plating & heat-treating processes.Independent & willing to take initiative.Strong work ethic & highly motivated.Strong leadership and management skills, with a minimum of 3 years of experience.Exceptional knowledge of Quality Certification policies (QS / ISO).EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.Six Sigma green belt certification.Solid background in sheet metal fabrication.PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Regularly required to walk or sit for the duration of the workday, 8-9 hours.Frequently required to perform repetitive hand movements when doing computer work.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, in which 20 / 20 vision or corrected vision to 20 / 20 vision is required.Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts when in the plant.Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles resulting from metalworking and oils.The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud when working in the plant, in which hearing protection is required.Benefits
