Accountant (Contract) The accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the organization. This position is responsible for managing accounting functions, preparing financial reports, and supporting compliance with nonprofit regulations and donor requirements. This position is a 3–6-month contract role with a possible chance of being hired at the end. Pay for this role will range between $23 and $30 / hr. Key Responsibilities :

  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Assist with preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Support grant reporting and ensure proper allocation of restricted funds.
  • Coordinate and support annual audits and tax filings (e.g., Form 990)
  • Monitor internal controls and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with program and development teams to ensure financial transparency and accountability.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment
  • Strong understanding of fund accounting and nonprofit financial reporting
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
