Job Title : HIM Auditor (Contract)

Location :

Fully Remote — Open to candidates residing in Hawaii, Washington, California, or Oregon

Compensation :

$44–$48 / hour (W2 Contract via LHH)

Schedule :

Monday to Friday, 8 : 00 AM – 4 : 30 PM

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and credentialed HIM Auditor to join our team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about medical coding accuracy, compliance, and education. You’ll play a key role in ensuring coding integrity and supporting coder and physician development.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct monthly audits of medical coding, focusing on ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT standards.

Review medical records to ensure documentation supports assigned codes.

Provide education and corrective action plans to coders and physicians based on audit findings.

Maintain thorough documentation of audit activities and outcomes.

Collaborate with coding teams to improve accuracy and compliance.

Deliver presentations and training sessions to support ongoing coder development.

Uphold ethical standards and proactively address any compliance concerns.

Required Qualifications

Certifications : CCS or CPC (must be active)

Experience : Minimum of 2 years within the last 5 years in medical coding, with at least 1 year full-time coding experience post-certification.

Education : High school diploma or GED required. Completion of coursework in medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, ICD-10 / CPT coding conventions, and disease processes preferred.

Systems Knowledge : Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Experience with EPIC is a plus.

Skills : Strong analytical skills, deep understanding of coding guidelines and regulations, and excellent communication and presentation abilities.
