About The Position

Scrub or circulate procedures

Room setup and turnover

Obtaining disposables and instrument sets as needed

Advanced skills in sterile technique

Central line setup

Arterial line setup

Belmont setup and operation

Cell saver setup

Description :

The position involves working in the cardiovascular surgery unit.

The unit has a patient-to-staff ratio of 1 : 1.

Team members include board runners, charge nurses, service line coordinators, and ancillary staff for room turnovers.

The types of equipment used include Belmont, ESU, and positioning equipment.

Documentation is handled through a specified system.

RNs work a rotating schedule; responsibility includes daytime shifts from 7 : 00 AM to 4 : 00 PM, with variations throughout the week.

Floating to the main operating rooms may be required.

Direct contact with patients necessitates excellent communication skills.

Candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach to potential issues before they arise.

Teamwork is essential within the unit.

Routine procedures in the unit include open-heart surgeries, CABGs, MVRs, TVRs, AVRs, VATS, and vascular procedures.

Candidates should be familiar with room setup, patient's needs, and the proper handling of instruments.

The uniform is provided in the form of scrubs.

Unit-specific policies and guidelines will be available for review.
