Compliance Investigator
This position is open for recruitment and fully funded following the 2025 Special Legislative Session.
The role : Bring your research and fact-finding skills to our Commerce and Compliance Division as a compliance investigator. In this role, you will have the opportunity to investigate complaints regarding alleged unlawful operations of commercial trucking and moving companies. You will use proven techniques to gather information, present findings, create reports, make recommendations for change and track progress towards resolution. A day in the life :
- Investigate alleged unlawful operations and practices of motor carriers using various investigative techniques.
- Evaluate information obtained during investigations, interpret and apply applicable laws and rules to a variety of complex situations to identify non-compliance.
- Prepare reports and exhibits. Serve as primary witness for contested cases associated with investigations.
- Participate in special enforcement operations.
- Conduct technical audits of household goods movers.
- Write technical audit reports, provide oral and written technical advice and present audit information to moving companies.
- Communicate technical and audit information with motor carriers, other agencies and consumers.
- Provide information and share decisions about noncompliance issues with motor carriers, other agencies and consumers.
- Work is conducted in a variety of locations and may be exposed to irregular work hours, working around commercial vehicles, traffic and hazardous materials.
- This position primarily works alone with limited supervision and may require occasional out of state travel.

Two of the four years must be above the technical support level. Note : college-level course work may substitute for experience on the basis of 45-quarter units per year, up to a maximum of three years.
Special qualifications : Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
