General Purpose
The Manager, Applications Development is responsible for the suite of complex, in-house developed and vendor systems used across multiple technical platforms. The manager will manage directly and indirectly a diverse team of technology professionals including software engineers, systems and business analysts, project managers and solutions architects to deliver quality technical solutions to complex business needs in a timely manner.
This position is for the management of the "Delivery & Document Management" team within IT applications. This team is responsible for the delivery of product changes through release, environment, and deployment management. In addition to product change delivery, this team will also support testing standards and governance.
Beyond those areas, this team will also manage the document management systems for support, updates, projects, and portfolio planning. This includes implementing new systems and processes while also decommissioning legacy areas as needed.
Responsibilities
- Manages and provides leadership to large diverse team of technology professionals.
- Responsible for timely delivery of quality and secure technical solutions.
- Heavily involved in the development, planning and execution of IT, business, and executive management project priorities.
- Responsible for managing and solving complex and mission critical problems.
- Responsible for 24 / 7 support for tier one business critical applications.
- Provides input, oversight and execution for the IT department's strategic vision.
- Accountable for achieving department performance metrics and results.
- Responsible for developing and executing IT policy and standards.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining yearly department capital and maintenance budgets.
- Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with vendors.
- Performs administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department.
- Performs additional responsibilities as requested.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or related technical field or equivalent work experience.Eight years' experience in programming or systems analysis, including three years supervisory / management responsibilities.Knowledge of IT terms, equipment, systems, functions and major vendors.Effective oral and written communication skills.Effective interpersonal skills and customer relationship skills.Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.Project management skills.Depending on the scope of applications managed, the position may require maintaining proper CIP credentialing.Availability for periodic on-call responsibilities.
