Senior Project Manager – Transmission & Distribution Engineering System One is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead critical Transmission & Distribution (T&D) infrastructure projects for our client. This is an exciting opportunity to help build and manage an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) program within a major utility’s T&D Engineering Division. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in electric utility project management and EPC delivery models, with a proven ability to oversee complex transmission line and substation projects from concept through completion. Role Overview As Senior Project Manager, you will manage the full lifecycle of EPC projects—including scoping, procurement, execution, and closeout. While engineering design will be performed by EPC contractors, you will ensure compliance with technical standards, coordinate internal reviews, and maintain oversight of construction activities through assigned inspectors and coordinators. This position serves as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and EPC partners, driving accountability and performance across all phases of project delivery. Key Responsibilities Lead planning, procurement, and execution of EPC transmission line and substation projects (rebuilds, upgrades, greenfield construction). Develop detailed project scopes, schedules, and deliverables in collaboration with internal teams and leadership. Serve as the primary representative for EPC contractors; manage communications and performance throughout the project lifecycle. Facilitate engineering design reviews, technical submittal evaluations, and material approvals. Coordinate permitting, environmental, right-of-way, and system operations inputs during project execution. Supervise project coordinators and inspectors; ensure safe, efficient, and compliant field activities. Monitor contractor adherence to schedules and budgets; lead cost control and change management processes. Provide regular project status reports, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies to senior leadership. Maintain organized project documentation including contracts, drawings, schedules, and closeout materials. Support continuous improvement of EPC delivery framework, tools, and procedures. Promote a strong safety culture across all project phases. Participate in emergency response or storm restoration efforts as needed. Qualifications Education : BS in Construction Management, Electrical / Civil / Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Experience : Minimum 7 years of progressive project management experience in electric utility infrastructure. Direct experience with transmission line and substation projects required. EPC delivery model experience strongly preferred. Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage third-party contractors. Certifications : PMP required (or ability to obtain within 6 months). PE license preferred but not required. Skills : Strong knowledge of T&D systems, EPC project execution, and utility construction methods. Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, and document control systems; CMMS experience preferred. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Work Environment Combination of office, field, and substation environments. Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb stairs, and work around high-voltage equipment. Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs; visual and auditory acuity required. After-hours or storm response work may be required.
