Job description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Stepdown Telemetry unit requiring a CT or compact RN license and trauma center experience.

Job Details

  • Work in a Pediatric Stepdown unit within a short-term acute care, Level I Trauma Center hospital,
  • Care for pediatric patients with a 1 : 4 nurse-to-patient ratio,
  • Night shifts with a 3x12 hour schedule from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM,
  • Epic EMR used for charting,
  • Weekend shifts required every other weekend,
  • Floating within scope required as needed to meet facility needs,
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated,
  • No on-call requirements,

Job Requirements

  • Active CT or compact RN license required (pending license accepted if active before start),
  • Current BLS certification required,
  • Minimum 2 years of recent pediatric stepdown experience; 1.5 years with recent Level I trauma or travel experience may be considered,
  • Previous trauma center experience at a large facility required,
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted,
  • COVID-19 vaccine and booster required; exemptions considered for religious or medical reasons,
  • Completion of pre-start and annual modules as assigned,
  • Must not have been employed by the facility within the last 2 years as permanent staff,
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility,

    • Additional Information

  • Provide stepdown level nursing care for pediatric patients in a high-acuity environment,
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams in a large academic medical center,
  • Orientation includes completion of online education modules before starting,
  • Schedule may allow up to 7 days of time off without special approval,
  • Parking available for a monthly fee,
  • Strict compliance with hospital vaccination policies required,
  • First-time travelers are strongly preferred to have travel experience,
