Job Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • ASCP Certification for Pathologist Assistants
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from AHA
  • State Pathologist Assistant license
  • Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program

    • Skills & Responsibilities

  • Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens under the supervision of a pathologist
  • Accurately describe, measure, and section surgical pathology specimens
  • Prepare tissue specimens for histological processing
  • Assist with frozen sections and specimen photography when required
  • Ensure proper specimen identification and labeling in accordance with hospital protocols
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of procedures and findings
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and compliance standards in the pathology lab
  • Communicate effectively with pathologists, laboratory staff, and surgical teams
  • Manage and prioritize workload to ensure timely processing of specimens
  • Support pathology team with special projects or additional duties as assigned
