Instructor Fitness Center - Fitness Center Branson

Summary

• The fitness instructor assesses and identifies the needs of members of CoxHealth Fitness Centers through methods including, but not limited to, fitness orientations, fitness assessments and interpretation of results, and construction of appropriate fitness prescriptions for individuals and groups. Develops exercise programs for special populations and disease management. Conducts exercise classes, personal training and sports training and enhancement, according to approved agencies guidelines. Educates members about their fitness status relative to age and sex matched norms and collects baseline data and follows up to allow evaluation of progress by members and their health care providers. Educates and motivates individuals with medically controlled diseases to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyle behaviors and motivates members to begin and continue with their healthy behaviors by establishing reasonable and attainable fitness goals. Completes projects designated by the fitness manager or operations manager. The fitness instructor will also assist with all regular daily business operations at the front desk and fitness floor as needed. Responsible for greeting members, answering phones, processing payments and membership applications as needed.

Job Requirements

• Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degee in exercise or fitness related discipline
• Experience Preferred: Experience in a fitness setting and providing exercise prescriptions according to ACSM guidelines and ability to teach group exercise classes
• Skills Expertise in the areas of fitness and group exercise Ability to take blood pressure and heart rate Strong communication and people skills and positive attitude Self-motivated individual who can work independently with little direct supervision Ability to manage multiple assignments and projects at one time and ability to work under pressure Maintain current knowledge of health and fitness guidelines and standards
• Licensure/Certification/Registration Required: Personal Training or Group Exercise certification from an accredited agency and maintain certification AND BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire Preferred: Group exercise certification from an accredited agency
