American Traveler is seeking a Med / Surg Registered Nurse for night shifts in Maine requiring a ME or compact RN license and two years of recent experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a Med / Surg unit within a hospital settingPatient population includes total joints, general medical / surgical, appendicitis, bowel procedures, urology, CHF, pneumonia, sepsis, diabetes, and complex medical cases with addictionThe unit contains 27 beds as part of a 64-bed hospitalNight shift schedule is 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM, 36 hours per weekRN patient ratios are 1 : 5-6 on days and 1 : 6-7 on nightsMay float to ICU for Med Surg level care and to the ED to assist as neededCerner charting system is usedEvery other weekend rotation is requiredNo on-call responsibilitiesHoliday coverage includes two out of four major holidays as neededCharge nurses typically take patient assignments on most shifts24 / 7 support includes hospitalist and respiratory therapyOne shift of unit-based orientation and general hospital orientation are providedNurses are expected to make two IV start attempts before requesting assistanceCentralized tele-monitoring tech is used for patient monitoringProfessional scrubs in any color are allowedFree parking is available onsiteTravel pairs can generally work the same weekends, but may not be placed on the same positionFirst-time travelers are welcome to apply\n \n Requirements\n
Active ME or compact RN licenseMinimum two years of recent Med / Surg RN experienceBasic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; ACLS is preferredWillingness to be trained as Charge RN and work in that capacity as neededExperience with chest tubes, tracheostomies, drains, wound vacs, IVs, PCAs, and IV antibiotics preferredExperience with Cerner charting system preferredMust not have worked in any Northern Light Health hospital in a permanent capacityCandidate’s permanent address must be at least 100 miles south or southwest of Bangor, Maine (489 State St.), per eligibility criteriaFlu vaccination required for all starts after 9 / 30 / 2024, with medical exemptions reviewed by client\n Benefits\n
