Job Summary
Inspect reconciliation, hold and reject verification and resolution thereof. Work directly with CBP, USDA, FWS and FDA inspectors and Int'l Import Ops assisting in daily Ontario Hub sort. Prepare and complete miscellaneous reports.
This position uses import / export regulations to classify products and determines eligibility for various regulatory programs involved in international imports and exports. This position serves as a liaison between UPS and government entities, resolving issues related to customs declarations, shipping restrictions, and tax payments. This position also troubleshoots and communicates documentation discrepancy issues with customers and foreign origins. He / She audits commercial documents, applies harmonized tariff schedule codes for accurate duty assessments and ensures all federal requirements are met. This position handles general customs brokerage activities and general office and data entry tasks as well as assisting the Customs and Border Protection officers during physical package examinations.
Responsibilities
Reconcile nightly shipment concerns, hold resolutions and inspect reports. Present exams to government agencies. Communicate any additional information needed to Nightside team or seek same as required, via phone, e-mail, and comments in ISPS or BOSS. Review holds for those that may be processed. Prepare and complete reports as required and report results to supervisor.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of US Customs and Border Protection Regulations
Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree) - Preferred
International Trade, Logistics or Freight Forwarding experience - Preferred
Previous experience with classification and / or FTA determination - Preferred
Knowledge of Boss, IS PS, OPSYS, ISPS, E-mail, MS Office, BDIS, IDIS, ETT, and internet preferred.
Additional Skills : Possess the ability to identify and resolve problems with little supervision. Team player. Desire to cross train in various areas.
Interpersonal Skills : Self-starter, highly motivated, excellent organizational skills and be capable of handling multiple tasks throughout the night.
Work Environment
Ontario Brokerage Hub office (on site at hub). 4 admin and 1 supervisor at the hub and 4 that work from home. Brokerage is responsible for clearing international air shipments that are entering the U.S. from a foreign origin through the respective U.S. Government agencies. Dress code is casual but may be required to wear protective footwear when working in the operation during sort with US Customs.

Pay Range : Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $23.05 / hr to $37.45 / hr. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to, market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and education / training and a candidate's work experience. Hired applicants are offered annual short-term and / or long-term incentive compensation programs, subject to applicable eligibility requirements. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and / or the company's performance.
