Job description

Cell Staff is currently hiring full-time Family Nurse Practitioners for the Virginia Department of Correctionsto provide high-quality healthcare services within state correctional facilities. These positions offer competitive compensation, predictable schedules, and the opportunity to serve a unique and underserved patient population.

Position Location

  • Deerfield Correctional Center – Capron, VA

Work Schedule

  • Monday–Friday : 8 : 00 AM – 4 : 30 PM
  • Alternative Option : Four (4) 10-hour shifts per week, 7 : 00 AM – 5 : 30 PM

    • Compensation

  • Annual Salary : $180,960

    • Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive primary and urgent care services to incarcerated individuals
  • Conduct physical assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and ongoing treatment plans
  • Manage both acute and chronic health conditions in collaboration with physicians and nursing staff
  • Document and maintain accurate medical records in accordance with VADOC standards
  • Support continuity of care through interdisciplinary teamwork and compliance with clinical protocols

    • Qualifications

  • Current Family Nurse Practitioner license (Virginia or compact state)
  • Active DEA license (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Current CPR / BLS certification
  • The ability to work autonomously
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
