Job description
Transform Lives Through Communication in Beautiful California - Become a Speech Language Pathologist with Us

Introduction

Imagine a career move that allows you to be the catalyst for profound change in people's lives-quite literally giving voice to the voiceless. As a Speech Language Pathologist in the breathtaking landscape of Southern California, you won't just treat communication and swallowing disorders; you'll play a pivotal role in unlocking potential, instilling self-assurance, and creating connections. From children uttering their very first words to older adults reclaiming their autonomy, your impact will be both deep and wide.

This position offers a unique chance to work with diverse populations, spanning infants through the elderly, in a patient-centric environment that integrates outpatient therapy with occasional inpatient care. Whether your passion lies in nurturing the communication skills of little ones, addressing speech needs for adults with neurogenic challenges, or providing strategic cognitive rehabilitation for seniors, you'll find this community is ripe with opportunities and support.

Role Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments on pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients utilizing both standardized testing and insightful observation.
  • Create tailored intervention plans focusing on immediate objectives and long-range communication, cognitive, and swallowing goals.
  • Deliver direct speech therapy tailored towards enhancing communication abilities, fluency, voice quality, and safe swallowing practices.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with a multidisciplinary team, including physical and occupational therapists, nursing staff, physicians, families, and caregivers to ensure coordinated care.
  • Educate patients and families, empowering them to support therapeutic progress beyond the clinic.
  • Contribute to inpatient speech therapy evaluations and interventions when necessary, promoting continuity through various care settings.
  • Maintain precise documentation that meets all legal and institutional requirements in a timely manner.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay abreast of the latest advancements in speech-language therapy.
Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) for those yet to achieve ASHA certification.
Required Certifications
  • Current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Preferred Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Desired Skills
  • Expertise in evidence-based approaches to therapy for diverse populations, with a comprehensive understanding of both developmental and acquired disorders of speech, language, and swallowing.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage effectively with patients, families, and the intersecting healthcare teams.
  • Flexibility to adapt therapeutic methods to resonate with diverse cultural backgrounds and language proficiencies.
  • Strong clinical acumen and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Competence with electronic medical records and adherence to documentation standards.
What We Offer
  • Attractive salary reflective of your experience and qualifications.
  • Flexible work schedules that prioritize your work-life balance and accommodate varied caseloads.
  • Specialization opportunities in pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, and geriatrics.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday compensation.
  • Health benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options.
  • Funding for continuing education and support for professional growth.
  • A nurturing, collaborative, team-oriented environment dedicated to high-quality care and lifelong learning.

Join a Community Committed to Healing and Growth

In this position, you will go beyond conventional speech therapy. You will become an integral part of a vibrant community that fosters healing, builds connections, and creates meaningful experiences through simple yet profound human interactions: understanding and being understood.

You will collaborate with fellow clinicians who value teamwork and cultivate a familial atmosphere, reinforcing our belief in collaboration over competition. Every patient has a unique narrative; you will help guide how that story unfolds.

Why This Community is a Gem

Irvine offers an exceptional blend of modern living and stunning natural beauty, situated in the heart of Orange County. This thriving city boasts exceptional parks, top-notch schools, and direct access to California's picturesque beaches and scenic mountains.

Imagine weekends spent exploring sandy shores, where you can relax and unwind, or embarking on hiking adventures that showcase breathtaking vistas. The culinary scene here is diverse-think food trucks serving up innovative dishes to upscale restaurants featuring multi-course meals crafted by celebrated chefs. Events celebrating the arts and community create a vibrant cultural tapestry, ensuring there is always something to experience.

And let's not forget the professional perks: a favorable job market, a strong economy, and a notable absence of state income tax complement the lifestyle here, allowing careers to flourish. This is a place where both personal and professional growth can thrive.

Whether you are starting your journey or looking to expand your horizons as an experienced clinician, this community offers the nurturing environment you need to grow.

The Ideal Candidate

We are in search of a Speech Language Pathologist who approaches their work with not just clinical expertise but genuine empathy. Someone who looks at a reserved child and envisions a future filled with self-expression or hears the hesitant speech of a stroke survivor and recognizes determination.

Your background might be rooted in pediatric care with aspirations to branch out into adult services or you might be steeped in neuro rehabilitation eager to explore early intervention techniques.

No matter your specialization, if your heart is set on serving others with skill and compassion, we want to hear from you.

Let's Craft Communication Together

If you resonate with the belief that speech therapy transcends mere sound, and that therapy itself is about forging relationships and trust, then this could be your next career chapter. Join us in a community that celebrates communication and connection, and helps others rediscover their voice to express themselves. Apply now to become a crucial part of our team and champion the voices of those we serve.
