Overview

Job Title / Department : Intervention Specialist – 2025-26 School Year

Employee Classification : Salaried, Exempt / Full-Time

Reports To : Principal, Akron

Julie Billiart Schools is a network of Catholic, non-public schools serving children in grades K-8 with special learning challenges. Campuses are located in Akron, Lyndhurst, Westlake and Brecksville, offering learning environments for students with autism, ADD / ADHD, dyslexia and social learning challenges. Role

The Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual and psychological growth. This role involves organizing and implementing an instructional program that supports academic success in accordance with Julie Billiart Schools and the Diocese of Cleveland policies. The intervention specialist is expected to work cooperatively in a co-teach model, typically as a lead teacher in a classroom shared with a second intervention specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences using a variety of materials and resources.
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans; establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare classrooms for activities; identify and select instructional resources and methods, including relevant technology, to meet students' varying needs and support instruction.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment; observe and evaluate student performance and development.
  • Assign and provide feedback on student assignments; maintain accurate records of students' progress in compliance with laws, district policies and school regulations.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities; communicate necessary information to relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage classroom behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures; maintain discipline in line with school policies.
  • Participate in level, school and parent meetings; attend professional development meetings as required by the Principal.
  • Write professional development goals as required by the LPDC; stay up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and adjust instructional plans accordingly.
  • Write IEPs, IEP progress reports, and service plans as required by state law; perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist License or in the process of obtaining one; minimum of a bachelor's degree in education, psychology, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience working with students with ADHD, autism, or other learning challenges.
  • Skilled in differentiating education and implementing strategies for executive functioning; able to apply social and behavioral strategies for teens.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to work independently or in a team; proficient at communicating with parents and colleagues.
  • Flexible thinker, able to make adjustments in the moment; enthusiastic, driven, and independent.
  • Experience with educational data collection and Excel data management.
  • Physical Requirements
