Description :
The role involves providing high-quality ultrasound images of the heart and great vessels for adult patients.
Responsibilities include performing two-dimensional ultrasound studies of the heart and great vessels.
Identifying EKG abnormalities and arrhythmias is a key task.
Utilizing knowledge of age-specific needs of patients is essential.
Understanding complementary imaging and Doppler techniques to investigate clinical questions is required.
The role involves measuring cardiac dimensions using M-Mode technique.
Estimating the severity of valvular insufficiencies and mapping dimensions with color flow Doppler is necessary.
Assessing blood flow through the heart, including increased velocities and stenosis, is part of the job.
Using contrast echocardiography in cases where standard techniques are suboptimal is required.
Evaluating left and right ventricular systolic and diastolic functions is expected.
Recognizing congenital heart malformations and acquired pathologies is essential.
Completing studies according to updated protocols and presenting additional views and calculations as needed is necessary.
Correlating clinical history with exams to consult with the cardiologist is vital.
Monitoring, recording, and utilizing a computerized documentation system is part of the role.
Preparing and assisting patients for dobutamine and exercise stress echocardiograms is included.
Assisting cardiologists in performing transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) is required.
Communicating results to cardiologists and addressing questions promptly is essential.
Maintaining monthly correlation studies and statistics is part of the job.
Demonstrating troubleshooting skills for equipment failure is necessary.
Participating in mobile echo / vascular service regionally is expected.
Assisting in functional and pharmacological cardiolite and echocardiography stress testing is part of the role.
Accurately documenting procedures and assessing patients' physical abilities is required.
Interpreting and clarifying physician's orders is essential.
Providing assessments in a crisis and notifying physicians when necessary is expected.
Demonstrating proficiency in recognizing lethal arrhythmias is vital.
Completing quarterly competency in stress lab, Holter monitoring, and event monitoring is required.
Operating ultrasound equipment effectively and selecting appropriate transducers for optimal resolution is part of the job.
Obtaining, reviewing, and documenting patient history and clinical data is necessary.
Proficiency in conducting pediatric echocardiograms is preferred.
