Responsibilities
- This position is a full-time traveling assignment supporting an Advanced Technology project, including Data Center, Pharmaceutical, Industrial / Manufacturing, and EV / Battery / Renewables MSG.
- Perform construction engineering activities related to Special Systems including Division 27 Telecommunication and 28 Electrical Safety, and security specifications for project types such as sports venues, aviation, federal, healthcare, detention, and data centers.
- Serve as key Special Systems Engineering resource to project, providing knowledge of contract documents, plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Establish, communicate, and maintain Special Systems procedures with Design professionals, consultants, owner and subcontractors for information flow, approvals, meetings, reporting, and applications for payment.
- Conduct thorough Special Systems construction document reviews for constructability and QC, raise concerns to design professionals and see through resolution.
- Prepare and manage Special Systems RFIs and Contract Items List to ensure ROJ dates align with project schedule.
- Prepare project studies to support recommendations for materials, methods, and cost estimates.
- Prepare status reports and escalate risks to the Project Manager.
- Schedule, conduct, and document Special Systems meetings to align project activities.
- Participate in creating and implementing QC Plan with the Special Systems project team.
- Participate in Special Systems subcontractor change order process, including review of estimates, negotiation, and owner approvals.
- Conduct regular project walkthroughs to ensure work safety and conformance with documents.
- Collaborate with Special Systems Superintendent on turnover, start-up, testing, and commissioning.
- Manage Special Systems project close-out, including warranties, acceptance, final payments, and records retention.
- May prepare procurement schedule for Subcontractors and major material / equipment purchases to ensure timely buyouts.
- May develop SOW documents for bid packages and include in contract items list.
- May work with Preconstruction and Purchasing on GMP or initial project budget and advise on Special Systems needs.
- May supervise and develop Special Systems Engineering employees, participate in hiring, onboard, and provide timely performance feedback.
- Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum of 6 years of experience with progressive responsibility and exposure to construction design, cost, sequence, logistics and field installations of substantial Low Voltage and IT Infrastructure components or equivalent.Experience with installation of one or more major systems and IT Infrastructure components.Working knowledge of TIA / EIA and BICSI.Basic system integration experience.Experience in Special Systems engineering principles and techniques.Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule.Knowledge of estimating, construction costs, scheduling, purchasing, and engineering principles for various building systems.Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines.Professional written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences.Physical Demands and Work Environment
